Customize the Data Management Web App

The Data Management Web App can be customized by users in a number of different ways. The following sections describe specific customizations that can be made and how to set them up.

HydroServer Landing Page

You can add a custom HydroServer landing page to your HydroServer instance. By default, HydroServer is deployed without this page and the default page in the Data Management App is the "Browse Sites" page. When you add a custom landing page, HydroServer will direct users to that page when they visit the base URL of your HydroServer instance.

To set up a custom landing page, do the following:

HydroServer Base Maps

HydroServer deployments use dynamic mapping capabilities provided by the OpenLayers mapping controls. By default, the base maps are set to OpenStreetMaps because use of the OpenStreetMaps base map layers is free. However, you can customize the specific base map layers you want to use, including the Google Base Map.

To customize the base map used by your HydroServer instance, do the following:

Add Controlled Vocabularies

HydroServer can provide a list of suggested controlled vocabulary terms to your users for many of the required metadata elements in HydroServer's data model.
